In this episode, it's my third "Mountain walk and talk", so you get the blessing (or curse) of hearing me attempting to catch my breath after hiking vertically for over an hour and rushing to get home (had a deadline, sadly). This walk and talk explores the idea of "giving your shame a deadlier weapon" to beat you over the head with, ie. Self-sabotage. I begin by introducing a metaphor because it's a helpful way of portraying this somewhat elusive concept.
Subtopics that arose:
- The "genesis" of Shame-based parts
- How we further perpetuate shame (giving it the gun)
- Sloppy coaching/therapy
- The role of punishment in shame
- Power dynamics and "shaming into growth"
